WIP:New Super Mario Bros./Unused Graphics
[sideways mushroom stalks aren't unused]
[todo: check if skull actually exists in-game]
Unused Graphics
Mario & Luigi Start
[can be seen in use the E3 2005 demo build]
The code for starting a level loads the "Mario/Luigi Clear/Win/Lose text" actor with the argument set to 0. In the past the actor likely had code to handle this argument, but it does not anymore, so the actor doesn't do anything.
Unused Models
Super Mario 64 DS Leftovers
Swing
This model can be seen in use in the E3 2005 trailer build.
Treasure Chest
[have appeared in earlier and later 2D Mario platformers]
Hidden Graphics
World Map Geometry
The World 1 map has a unseen platform beneath the cannon.
The World 3 map has a bush hidden underneath the first grassy island.
Pendulum Lift
[reword: The pendulum lifts in World 4-Castle are swinging from a pivot, but it isn't visible because of the camera restrictions set in the level (in the swinging platform sections of the level, you cannot move the camera up). There was at least one are in the E3 2005 trailer build and E3 2005 demo build where you could see the pivot.]
Early Graphics Leftovers
These used World Map graphics are actually early versions of graphics found in level tilesets.

The world map textures were apparently never updated, but the tilesets were. "Small bush 2" and "large bush" (with the size of the final large bush) can be seen in various pre-release materials. The size difference of the "large bush" may be due to memory limitations in the world map.
World 6 Map
[world 6 map uses tiles from unused mountain tileset]
World 4 Map Cave
The cave texture used in the World 4 map depicts an early version of the "near" cave background with grass added to the top. The background can also can be seen in prerelease materials.
